How to Play PuckPerfection

PuckPerfection is a hockey roster-building game. In the classic modes, you spin for an NHL team and era, then pick one player from that pool to fill an open position. Keep spinning and picking until the lineup is full, then see how your team does over a simulated season. The question the whole game is built around is the one on the front page: can you go 84-0?

The constraint is the point. Your next team is usually out of your hands, and every filled position changes what you need from the next spin. Rerolls are limited: the six-player classic modes share one team-or-era reroll for the game, while Full Roster and Current Cap King give each forward line its own allowance. Some modes also let you cut or undo picks. Check the controls for the mode you are playing rather than counting on an unlimited do-over.

There are eight single-player modes and a multiplayer league format. If you are new, start with Stats Visible. It is the original game and the one everything else is built on. Once you have a feel for it, the Daily Challenge gives you one shared puzzle per day with a percentile against everyone else who played it. The other modes hide the stats, expand to a full roster, add a salary cap, combine two teams, draft from a single draft year, or build a team over fifteen consecutive draft years.

A few habits help across the modes. Read the eligible positions before placing a player, leave room for the positions you still need, and remember the goalie. The displayed stats give context for your decisions. Your season result earns a grade where that mode shows one, and the result screen gives you a record to share. A GM name lets other players recognize your run on the leaderboards.
